The World Junior Boxing Championship

 On May 28-30 Mr. Rakhimov visited Erevan (Armenia) in the capacity of AIBA Executive Vice-president to attend the World Junior Boxing Championship.
   The event has gathered 255 boxers from 42 countries and all the attendants witnessed the true boxing spirit of the participants. 5 gold medals won by the Russian team ensured them to be the first in the overall medal count with Cuban boxers becoming the second and the host country being the third.
   Among the VIP guests who honoured the competition with their presence were H.E. President of Armenia and AIBA President, IOC member Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu.
   Within the framework of the world championship the AIBA Executive Board had an informal meeting where the issues related to the AIBA competitions venue and the organisation of women boxing championship within the framework of the Olympic Games in 2012 in London were discussed. As provisionally agreed between AIBA and IOC the London Olympics will include women boxing competitions in three weight categories.
