G. A. Rakhimov, Vice-President of the AOC, was awarded Order of the Asian Olympic Council

 On January 24 Kuwait hosted the General Assembly of the Asian Olympic Council. Following the decision of the Executive Committee of the Asian Olympic Council G.A.Rakhimov, Vice-President of the AOC, was awarded Order of the AOC. The award was the recognition of the great contribution of the well-known man of sports. G.A. Rakhimov is well-known in Asia as an outstanding initiator and generous sponsor when it concerns organisation of a great number of tournaments in Asia.
     Owing to his efforts within a short period of time the Republic of Uzbekistan got world class sportsmen in such sports as tennis, boxing, wrestling, judo. However, G. Rakhimov renders assistance not only to sportsmen in Uzbekistan, his activity is spread to other countries of Central Asia as well. It is well known what role G.A.Rakhimov plays in the development of boxing in Central Asia. Being Vice-President of the AIBA he is promoting the development of this sports in the region, assists in finding young talents and their further training. The fair example of it is the successful performance of boxers from Central Asia in Boosan in September 2002 at the XIV Asian Games. They won 7 gold medals out of 12 possible (Uzbekistan - 5, Kazakhstan - 2).
