Humanitarian Aid to Beslan
On September 23, 2004 the Republican Charitable Fund “Mehrjon-Sport” on the initiative of Gafur Rakhimov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, sent gratis aid for the children and families suffered from the terrorist act in Beslan, North Osetia, Russian Federation. The cargo of 29,5 tons with warm clothes for children, medicines, 10 “Daewoo” and “LG” TV sets, 25 “Daewoo” and “LG” videotape recorders, 10 “Daewoo” electric heaters, 10 “Sino” refrigerators, bedclothes, 2 “Ambulance” cars, 15 tons of preserved fruit jams, more than 2 tons of chocolate confectionery, more than 4 tons of natural juices, 3,5 tons of fresh fruits was delivered by a chartered plane and officially given to the representatives of the government commission of North Osetia, Beslan under the Russian Emergencies Ministry. The official delegation visited the cemetery where all the victims of the terrorist act were buried as well as school ¹1 where the tragedy took place and placed memorable wreaths on behalf of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Republican Charitable Fund “Mehrjon-Sport”. Later the members of the delegation met with V. Khodov, the Governor of Pravoberejniy district of the Republic of North Osetia, Alania and expressed their heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people of Uzbekistan.
At the moment the cargo was delivered the overall aid from the world community to Beslan amounted to 297 òonnes.
