Youth Olympic Games successfully ended in Singapore

The first historic Youth Olympic Games (YOG) held on 12-26 of August in Singapore successfully finished in Singapore. The new format of global youth competitions gathered athletes from 205 countries of the planet.
   The boxing competitions included in the program of YOG thrilled the spectators as well as several dozen of IOC members for the last five days of the Games. The total of 66 boxers in 11 weight categories competed for the title of the Olympic Champion. The final matches were honored by the presence of IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge.
   Once again the Cuban boxers proved their dominance in the ring giving the world three champions. Uzbekistan team participated in the competitions with 3 boxers and gained 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
   The AIBA leaders, President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu and Executive Vice-president Mr. Gafur Rakhimov evaluated the competitions as the well-organized and run youth event. The medalists were honored to be awarded by the IOC members and AIBA representatives. After the competitions the ITOs were presented the Olympic Games certificates by the AIBA President. The next edition of the YOG will be held in China in 2014.
